Saplı Island

Saplı Island, located in Akbük, is another of the famous places of Didim, 23 kilometers away from Didim center. Saplı Island, the symbol of Akbük town, is an address that has become popular with its formation. It is known that following the volcanic eruption that took place in the Aegean Sea in the 1500s BC, ashes concentrated on the sea. It is claimed that these ashes condensed and formed the island. Today, these ashes can still be seen flying in windy weather. There is no settlement on the island and the region preserves its entire natural beauty. Transportation to the region can be done by private vehicles or by minibuses departing from Didim center.
